The sun shines after the storm

The Storm of the Decade

Last week we had the mother of all blizzards or at least I though so...It is one of the worst blizzards that I have seen since moving here to the U.P.  I did read reports that this was the worst storm in the last 17 years.   Most schools in the area were closed, including Michigan Technological School.  And for MTU to close, it had to be bad.  Roads were closed south of here because of snow drifts that were 6-8 feet high.  Winds were up to 50 miles per hour.  For two days the only thing we did was shovel out..  I also read that we only received 14 inches of snow during this storm.  They didn't come and check with or... Or look in our yard.  There was  a lot more then 14 inches in our yard, or maybe they were saying per hour :).  It took my husband 6 hours to shovel, snow blow and clear all the snow from our yard.  I did help for about 2 hours... I helped.  I also made sure there was fresh, warm coffee brewing each time he came in to warm up.  Isn't that what a good wife should do?

I can do this... I know I can

The side of the garage

Front yard has close to 5 feet of snow

Coffee for the warm up times

after the plows have come through

More digging

Snow Day!!!!

As a child storms are great.  Schools are cancelled.  There is a lot of snow. And you can't wait to get out there with your sleds.  I remember those days.  The neighbor's didn't even have to go to a snow hill.   They had enough snow hills in the back yard to sled down.

Do you know what the best part of a storm is?

The sun shines after the storm

A promise that the storm is done... At least for now
The Sun so wonderful and cheery and bright.
The Storm is over

I can look out and pretend that I am in the mountains.

Project 52 - Food

You would think, being a food blogger I would have no problem with this week's theme.
I have many pictures of food to pick from...
I picked this one as I had put in on my facebook page and one of the response's I received was....
"What a lovely photo- just looks all cozy and inviting and I can imagine sitting
and chatting about all sorts of  things, laughing, enjoying the company,
with the feelings of peace, happiness, satisfaction and contentness."
What a wonderful compliment that is..

Project 52 - Food

Here are some peanut butter cookies and a spot of tea for you.
Recipe for the cookies can be found here.

Project 52 - Love is...

This week's theme is perfect for Valentine's Week...

Love is....

Colossians 3 Verse 12-15

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

These verses were read at our wedding.

Winter Carnival.

Every year MTU ( Michigan Technological University) has winter carnival.
One of the things that are always done are snow/ice sculptures.
The weather also was perfect for it...
Enough snow had fallen prior to the event, wasn't too cold, but cold enough to keep them from thawing
And the most important weather condition
Two....yes, I said Two days of Sun to enjoy the sculptures.
Hubby as a student of MTU spent Wednesday night there helping to build one of the sculptures
His group NAHB won first place in the All nighter category.

This year their theme was Villains and Heroes Find Their Powers in These Frozen Winter Hours.
