Perspective Photo Challenge ~ Around Town

I have been wanting to go and take pictures

around town for a long time

this weeks Perspective Photo Challenge

gave me the opportunity.

Loved how the colours of the leaves framed one of the church steeples

this building was once the First National Bank, now it is a second hand store

I am thinking this was the railroad station at one time.

Laurium and Calumet are two attached towns in Upper Michigan.  During the mining time they were flourishing towns and at one time Calumet was going to be the capital of Michigan. These towns have a lot of history and I didn't even realize how much until I started walking up and down some of the streets.   Many of the stores and buildings have wonderful architecture but upkeep is needed. There are still many more pictures to take and ones that I still have to share, one of these days I will do another post of "around town".

Perspective Photo Challenge - FAR

This weeks perspective challenge is the word FAR.

What does that mean?

At or to a great distance....

A long way off....

at or to a great, advanced, or definite point of progress

What does it mean to me?

 the moon is at a great distance... Far, far, away

we say I will love you to the moon and back... infinity   

the clouds are a long ways away... far above in the sky

and the rainbow goes into the clouds, so that must be far.

Yesterday when I was driving and taking fall pictures

I came across a blocked road which said to me

this is as far as you can go!

Perspective Photo Challenge - Morning

This is the fourth week that I have been participating in these Perspective Photo Challenges and I have been having lots of fun trying to come up with photos that pertain to the theme that our wonderful hosts provide.  This week I would like to introduce and thank the hosts of this Challenge... Lena B Photography, When Shutters Click and Agape Love Designs.  Each week they pick a favorite picture and feature them.  Can I boast a little and say that since I started one of my pictures each week have been featured on one of the host's page?  This week my picture was featured on Lena B Photography ~ Thank you!

"Morning" is this weeks theme and I spent all week thinking about what I was going to do for it.  My thoughts went to pajamas, breakfast and even Christmas morning around the Christmas tree opening up presents, but pajamas was out... I have no children and I don't think my husband would model for me :), and the same with Christmas morning pictures... and I haven't been around home for many years... but I do have breakfast pictures but they seemed blah... So what else... This is what I picked.

Flower Garden

My goal in life is to have a beautiful flower garden with many different flowers growing,

to have a sanctuary that I can get away from the stress of life.

That is my goal but for right now

I will enjoy what I have!

I just wish that the flowers would stay....

Perspective Photo Challenge -Fun

When I think of  "Fun"  I think of spending time with my nieces and nephew... 

This summer we spent a day at Copper Harbor, hiking and swimming... 

A day of fun! 

 So this week on perspective photo challenge I am going to show 3 pictures of "FUN"!

Once in a Blue Moon

When you hear "Once in a Blue Moon" it means that it happens every now or then or rarely.  According to modern forklore, a blue moon happens when there is two full moons in a month.  This only happens every two to three years or every once in awhile... as the saying goes ~ once in a blue moon.  August 2012 was one of these months that we say a blue moon, the first full moon happening on August 1st and the second happened on August 31st.  Hopefully you went out to see it as the next full moon doesn't occur until  July 31, 2015 (Washington Post).
I went out to take pictures at 5:00 am on August 31st as I had to go into work for the night of August 31st.  I also took some pictures in the evening of August 30 and the morning (0700h) September 1st.

this picture I did some editing in iPiccy, using a texture nature cloud pattern and then mirror frame
I like the effect this gave.
